Contemporary art is defined as works produced in the second half of the 20th century through now. The primary element that defines contemporary art and photography is that the artists and their work tend not to fit neatly into singular school or ‘-ism’. Instead the work freely combines ideas and techniques from a diverse field of influences from society at large including pop-culture, politics, and cultural identity.
