Ricardo Montalbán (1920-2009): There were few Hispanic actors in the 1940s when Ricardo Montalbán, a pure-blooded Spaniard, moved from Mexico to Hollywood. His success put him in a position to militate against industry indifference and eventually more Hispanics were hired and featured. He said: “Mexicans have been portrayed in an ungodly manner by Hollywood.”
