Boris Karloff (1887-1969): While inescapably associated with his classic horror films, Boris Karloff was in fact a stage-trained performer, as comfortable in comedy as in Grand Guignol, and eminently watchable in anything he did. Karloff said: “Certainly I was typed. But what is typing? It is a trademark, a means by which the public recognizes you. Actors work all their lives to achieve that.”
