Burt Lancaster (1913-1994): An acrobat from his youth, Lancaster brought the grace of the high wire to his performances, and business acumen to his career, becoming one of the first actor-producers. Burts claim to fame was a series of inimitable performances crafted with an explosive, unpredictable style. Lancaster said: “We’re all forgotten sooner or later. But not films. That’s all the memorial we should need or hope for.”
