FATHOM Goes Deep (and wide)
A deeper look at the artists, movements, and moments behind every print we publish
Every print FATHOM publishes has a story behind it: an artist forging a style under pressure, a movement breaking with what came before, a photograph taken in a room few others could get into. Art in Context is where those stories live. It connects FATHOM's six core collections with the history, biography, and cultural background that turn a print on your wall into a work you understand. Start with Core Collections for a map of the catalog, the Artist Hubs and Genre Hubs for guides to the work, Artist Biographies for the lives behind it, Visual Arts History for the timelines that connect it, and the FATHOM Art Lexicon for the language that describes it. We add to this section as our collections and roster grow, so the deeper you go, the more you'll find.

Core Collections
The six collections that organize everything FATHOM publishes. Art Iconix covers fine art and the graphic arts. Photo Iconix surveys the photographic medium genre by genre. Rock Iconix and Film Iconix follow the images that shaped popular music and the movies. World Iconix gathers art and photography by place, and Special Collections holds archives like the Watson Family Photo Archive and the Edward Weston Publishing Archive. Artist Hubs
Editorial pages for the artists FATHOM publishes, grouped by discipline: street, documentary, fashion and portrait, travel, and landscape photographers; contemporary, graffiti, and pop artists; graphic designers and illustrators; museum masters; hybrid collaborations; and the music and Hollywood photographers of Rock Iconix and Film Iconix. Each hub covers the career, the key works, and the influences, with available prints alongside. If you want to know an artist before you own the work, begin here.

Genre Hubs
Guides to the movements and disciplines that run through the catalog, from Art Deco and the Museum Masters to Street Photography, Documentary Photography, Graffiti and Pop, Graphic Design and Illustration, and FATHOM's Hybrid Collaborations. Each hub sets the history beside the work, so a newcomer can get their bearings and a serious collector can go further.

FATHOM Art Lexicon
A growing glossary of the terms collectors, students, and enthusiasts run into, organized in four areas: fine art and photography, music and concert photography, film and cinema, and graphic art, street art, and design. If there's a term we haven't covered, suggest it and we'll add it.
