Franchot Tone (1905-1968): Well-bred and stage-trained, Franchot Tone brought the intensity of the Group Theatre to Hollywood, but was sidetracked into leading man roles until he began producing films like The Man in the Eiffel Tower. Franchot said: “Actors suffer from being half narcissistic and half self-critical.”
