Fred MacMurray (1908-1991): Fred MacMurray was brought to Hollywood when he was a musician, singer, and sometime Broadway actor, but developed into one of the most versatile stars of both movies and TV. He was equally at home in romantic comedies, Westerns, and detective dramas, creating memorable images of smooth-talking villains. Fred once said: “The only two parts I did in my career that required any acting were Double Indemnity and The Apartment, both for Billy Wilder.”
