James Cagney (1899-1986): Cagney was the most dynamic, tough, and fast-moving actor of his era, a dancer who was a gangster and vice versa, always cocky and surprising, and always accessible. Being one of Hollywood’s highest-paid stars did not prevent James from being an actors’ advocate and Screen Actors Guild founder.  He said: “Never relax. If you relax, the audience relaxes.”
