Jeanette MacDonald (1903-1965): Jeanette MacDonald was the lovely soprano co-star (with Nelson Eddy) of a series of lavish M-G-M operettas whose fans loved her self-mocking humor as much as her flawless voice. MacDonald once said: “I know they call me the ‘Iron Butterfly.’ I have an Irish temper, I have Scottish thrift, and, like the English, I love a good show.”
