Victor Mature (1913-1999): Yet another Hollywood recruit who had been a salesman and a Pasadena Playhouse student, Victor Mature nonetheless showed his acting chops in detective dramas and Westerns, yet his claim to fame was starring in Biblical epics. Mature said: “I’m a golfer. That’s my real occupation. I never was an actor.  Ask anybody, particularly the critics.”
