Wallace Reid

Wallace Reid (1891-1923): Reid was one of the first silent-film matinee idols, popular as much for his elegant presence in Cecil B. DeMille’s bedroom comedies as he was in action films. He earned posthumous fame as the first star to suffer an untimely, drug-related death. He said: “Either I shall come out of this sanatorium cured, or I shan’t come out.”
