Our Commitment to the Human Hand At FATHOM, we believe in the irreplaceable value of the human creator. Every work in our collection—whether a photograph, a painting, or a mixed-media collaboration—is the original creation of an individual artist or a designated artist partnership. All of our editions are produced in direct partnership with the original artists, their estates, licensed from authorized representatives or in the public domain.
Analogue Origins and Physical Craft The foundation of our archive is rooted in physical craft. This includes analogue photography captured on film and fine art paintings created with traditional media like oils, acrylics, and spray paint. We also represent contemporary digital artists who utilize a purely digital workflow to achieve their vision. Regardless of the medium, every piece we publish begins with a human's unique perspective and manual execution.
The Modern Studio and Restoration: For our vintage photography and physical paintings, we utilize a sophisticated digital workflow to capture the texture and detail of the original substrate. In this phase, we occasionally deploy advanced tools—including AI-augmented features within professional software like Adobe Photoshop—strictly for restorative and corrective purposes (e.g., healing dust/scratches on decades-old negatives or ensuring color accuracy for paintings).

None of the work offered by FATHOM is created by generative AI. Our goal is to honor the artist’s original vision without altering the fundamental composition, the brushstroke, or the historical authenticity of the work.
