Cecil Beaton (1904–1980) never worked as a studio photographer but the work he did as a “special art” photographer on films like Alexander Korda’s An Ideal Husband (1948 London Films) resulted in defining images of Vivien Leigh and other stars. The multitalented Beaton designed costumes, sets, arranged flowers, and wrote books, so he cannot be classified solely as a photographer. His prolific output of movie images spanned the years from 1930 to 1970 and every one bears his stylish stamp.
