Russell Ball (1894 - 1942) was a New York commercial photographer who shot occasional portraits of 1920s motion picture performers before moving to Los Angeles and devoting most of his time to glamour portraits. He wrote intelligent articles about portraiture for fan magazines and worked in the M-G-M gallery for a time in the mid-30s.
