Joshua Elias is a Los Angeles-based lyrical abstract painter, writer, and poet whose expansive canvases map the complex terrain of memory, time, and interior landscapes. Originally from Chicago, he earned a BFA from San Diego State University and further honed his craft studying historical master techniques with experts from the Getty Museum. Elias embraces a highly physical approach to his art, frequently mixing his own paints and utilizing raw materials on linen to explore the interstitial spaces of human experience. His artwork serves as a visual meditation, balancing calculated constraints with intuitive, spontaneous brushwork. A fixture at the renowned Brewery Arts Complex in LA, Elias exhibits internationally across Europe and the United States. His compelling, narrative-driven abstractions are held in prestigious private and public collections, including the RAND Corporation and the presidential state house of Iceland.
