Description
Artist: Constantin Westchilof
Title: Veranda in Capri
Edition Details: Archival pigment print on cotton/polly blend museum canvas with a satin finish. The 16x20 image framed in our classic silver ornate, solid wood moulding. Open edition.
Curator's Note: Constantin Westchiloff trained under Ilya Repin at the Imperial Academy in St. Petersburg before relocating to Europe and, eventually, New York — but it was the Italian coast that drew out his finest work. Veranda in Capri (c. 1929–1935) captures a sun-drenched Mediterranean terrace draped in cascading purple wisteria, the Tyrrhenian coastline dissolving into luminous haze beyond the balustrade. His command of dappled light and warm, airy color is fully realized here
