Nelson Evans was a commercial photographer who opened a studio on—appropriately enough—Hollywood Boulevard. Following the lead of Alfred Witzel, Evans specialized in portraits of Hollywood actors and actresses, among them Rudolph Valentino, Lillian Gish, and William S. Hart.
