Ray Jones began work for the studios as a unit still photographer at Paramount and the Fox Film Corporation in the early 1930s and ended up as the head portrait photographer at Universal Pictures, where his friendly headshots of Deanna Durbin and W.C. Fields were as effective as his sexy shots of Marlene Dietrich and Maria Montez.
