Drew Carolan documents New York with an unflinching eye, photographing the city’s landmarks, cliches, and citizens with compassion and a deep understanding of what it’s really like to live, work and interact with the city that never sleeps. The Native Eye Collection is selected from Drew’s forthcoming book of the same title.
"Native Eye is a collection from photographic observations of New York City in the late 20th century. The camera was utilized as a reactionary tool to my surroundings. The black and white photographs serve as document of a time and place. Much of what was photographed does not exist anymore. Despite the density of the city a juxtaposition of joyous and solitary moments within a sea of humanity were observed and recorded."
