Glenn Ford (1916-2006): Ford inevitably played easygoing but tough heroes, distinguished by a subtly menacing voice and clenched teeth. Glenn became famous in 1940s detective films, found his niche in 1950s Westerns, and was equally adept in the romantic comedies of the ‘60s. Glenn said: “I’ve never played anyone but myself on screen. It gives the audience someone real to identify with.”
