Linda Ronstadt

Known in the 1970s as the “First Lady of Rock” and the “Queen of Rock”, Linda Ronstadt was one of the world’s first female rock stars. Starting her career in the mid ‘60s as a folk and country artist, Ronstadt began releasing chart-topping solo albums by the mid 1970s. Ronstadt’s brand of rock is soft, driving, and confident. Her songs gently meld elements rock, pop, country and folk, and even clear Motown influences punctuate much of the music enveloping her several-octave-spanning lead vocals. No less striking was her beautiful, “all-American girl” look, which graced the cover of Rolling Stone, Time, and Newsweek magazines more than a few times. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, the Queen of Rock holds a chapter all her own in the pages of rock history.
