Sonic Composites is an on-going series of collaborative works by Los Angeles artist SEL, developed in partnership with some of the most respected photographers in the music business. Each piece begins with an archival image — a defining moment captured from the pit, the stage, or the streets — and is rebuilt through Sel's bold, layered process of recoloring and composite reinterpretation. The result is a body of work that feels both historically rooted and urgently contemporary. Spanning classic rock, punk, and hip hop, the series includes works drawn from the archives of FATHOM's RockIconix Collection, with subjects ranging from Led Zeppelin and David Bowie to Black Flag, Minor Threat, and the Melvins. Rock photography and street art were born outside the gallery — one from the pit, one from the wall — and Sel's work makes that shared DNA impossible to ignore. | Selections from the FATHOM exhibition SONIC 2.0: Noise & Vision
