FATHOM is pleased to present Bart Cooper's Purple Series. An exhibition of contemporary portraits combining the techniques of street art with post modern figurative style . A portion of all proceeds will support the Emery Martial Arts Academy Scholarship Fund.

The Purple Series explores the profound connections between art, symbolism, and the impact influential figures have on our culture. Each piece within the collection depicts renowned artists, athletes or leaders, each celebrated for achievements in their field, but chosen for the collection based on inspiration the artist drew from their individual accomplishments and life philosophies.

Barthelomew (Bart) Cooper (Liberian/American b. 1978) is a contemporary artist based in Los Angeles, California. From a young age, Cooper was inspired by the vibrant colors and breathtaking scenery of his homeland, leading him to visually record the world around him. In the face of civil war, Cooper immigrated to the United States at the young age of six. He went on to study fine art, sculpture, and graphic design.

Bart has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland as well as several solo exhibitions in galleries throughout the US. His Hero’s Series was featured in the ESSENCE MAGAZINE 50th Anniversary Issue. His work has also been featured on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, PBS AND BET.

The Emery Academy of Martial Arts provides outstanding martial arts instruction to children and their families. Sifu Matt Emery has been teaching kindness, compassion, respect and courage to kids in the Los Angeles area for over 20 years. Art sales from The Purple Series Exhibition will help families with financial needs afford training at the Emery Academy.
