Casey Chaos of Amen stares straight down the lens, arms locked across his chest, in a studio portrait by Greg Watermann. The white backdrop leaves nothing to look at except the man and his jacket, a patched red-and-black leather jacket with snakeskin panels, a studded lapel, an iron cross hanging at the chest and a Damned patch stitched near the hem. The badges, the black hair spiking off his head and that flat, unblinking stare make a record of punk lineage worn like armor. Watermann keeps the film rebate in the print, so the Fuji edge markings frame the square image and show it was made on film.
