Curator's Note: The figure stands centered against open sky and ocean. A few cumulus clouds drift across the upper third of the frame, counterweighting the mass of the statue without crowding it. Landau shoots from low — just below the pedestal — so the stepped concrete base reads as a small ziggurat lifting the saint clear of the earth. Direct frontal light articulates every vertical fold in the robe and hood without flattening the form. What makes this picture work is restraint. No foliage. No park furniture. No cropping into sky or sea. Stone, sky, water — and Morahan's distillation of devotional sculpture into Art Deco geometry.
