Curator's Note: A massive winged guardian fills the left two-thirds of the frame — helmeted, draped, holding a sword across her chest, shot from a low angle that emphasizes both her scale and the smooth recession of her wings into shadow. To her right, three smaller bust reliefs march away from her in shallow rectangular niches: an aviator goggled and capped, a figure crested with what reads as an eagle helm, a third in a martial helmet holding a small shield. The diminishing scale across the frame turns the wall into a procession. Soft, almost shadowless light suits the cream stone — no harsh raking sun to flatten the relief, just continuous tonal gradation that lets braid, feather, and chainmail register at full detail. A single decorative cartouche intrudes on the far left edge, anchoring that side of the composition without explaining itself. The crop is severe — no street, no sky, no broader facade. Stone, scale, and the slow recession of figures into the wall.
